IN THE AGENCY FOR THE SUPPORT OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT KOŠICE, NONPROFIT ORGANISATION, WE ARE CONSTANTLY SEEKING OPPORTUNITIES TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY RESILIENCE TO THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE. ONE OF THE LATEST PROJECTS WE HAVE ENGAGED IN IS LAND4CLIMATE, WHICH FOCUSES ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INNOVATIVE NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS IN RISK-PRONE AREAS.
PROJECT PARTNERS MEETING IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
In March 2024, an important meeting of the LAND4CLIMATE project partners took place in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. Among the participants of this meeting were not only research and practical partners, but also representatives of local communities and territorial self-governments, who play a key role in the project.
The meeting was an important step forward in better understanding the potential, as well as the obstacles on the path to implementing nature-based solutions on private land, and for initiating the implementation of physical measures,” said Prof. Dr. Stefan Greiving and Prof. Dr. Thomas Hartmann, project coordinators at the Technical University of Dortmund (TUDO).
VISIT TO THE NATIONAL PARK
One of the highlights of this working meeting was the on-site assessment of climate challenges and adaptation strategies in the Czech Switzerland National Park.
Discussions held here helped better understand local climate risks and suitable approaches to address them.
Our project team recognizes the importance of sharing experiences and collaborating with partners from various countries and regions. We are proud of our involvement in this project and believe that cooperation with additional partners and local communities will help us achieve our goals.
At the meeting, successes and progress achieved in various demonstration areas of the project were also presented. These presentations were complemented by discussions on the challenges and opportunities in implementing nature-based solutions. At the end of the working meeting, participants expressed their commitment to active collaboration and support for the implementation of innovative solutions for climate resilience.
